Matlock's Save Our NHS Rally

Matlock was the centre of protest in support of our public services again recently, this time with the NHS the focus.

With several local Hospitals under threat of bed losses or closures, marchers crossing Derbyshire from Belper met in Matlock with representatives from Bakewell, Bolsover, Buxton and even Shropshire NHS campaigns.

A well attended meeting at County Hall heard from a fine collection of speakers about the "Millions of public pounds being shaved off local NHS budgets" if the powers that be implement their plans.

Local Matlock County Councillor, Andy Botham, met with local Labour members to hand out leaflets and raise signatures for the petition in the Town, before arriving at the County Hall meeting to inform and arouse the audience with his speech.

Our thanks go out to all the excellent speakers, the organisers, the marchers, the attendees, including councillors and former parliamentarians, as well as the public.
