We would like to give our special thanks to Anne Western for sparing her time to share with us some of the current issues facing Local Government, and her views about getting woman interested and involved in politics.
We all agree there was some value in officially forming a Womans Forum, but were keen that this would focussing on activities, campaigning, discussion, networking and education.
Academisation was discuss at length - and everyone agreed they were interested in focussing on this campaign. The planned event at Matlock Park 2pm 23/4/2016 was noted, and agreed those who could would meet together there. (there is a facebook page for this - Anti-academies rally, hosted by Alice Lockett )
We agreed to march as a group at Chesterfield May Day - - Monday May 2nd. March assemblies at the Town Hall at 10:30 for 11, followed by music and a rally in New Square.
We agreed to make a banner for this and Pam kindly agreed we could meet at her home. Please get in touch with Izzy if you are interested in finding out about this.
Next formal meeting Saturday 4th June 10 -12 (Venue TBC)
Jen volunteered to create a twitter and facebook account. We agreed to write letters of support and making links with current campaigns in the workplace and in the community. - sharing first before putting them under the name of Derbyshire Dales Labour Party Womens' Forum.
To keep in touch and share news and ideas.
We agreed to volunteer to take responsibility for various topics and campaigns and respond to news items, events, comments in relation to these matters. - I'm a social worker by trade and happy to respond to issues relating to children and families, child poverty, housing and adult care.
