It is now the 22nd December and I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I’d also like to wish anyone celebrating all the other winter festivals love and blessings.
This is just a short piece, I am busy preparing food and will be going out into my local community with many other volunteers, in the next few days, to distribute much needed food and clothes to those who are in need, living on our streets. A few things have been brought to my mind through becoming involved in this outreach project. Anyone can fall into the poverty trap; anyone can fall foul of the system that is supposed to catch people in need. There are a great many groups of people of all ethnicities working to support those in need but still too many people are suffering. Political solutions are slow to come, though it has been through my membership of grass roots politics that I have been given the chance to participate in the outreach projects. My hope for 2017 is that the more awareness that is created, regarding the reality of those in need, will mean more action is taken to help them and change attitudes, media reporting and political decisions.
I am grateful for all my family, friends and colleagues, near and far; love, peace and hope is what I wish for everyone.
