New Members

A huge welcome to our new members of the Derbyshire Dales Labour.

Here we will cover what you need to know and do as a new member and give you the main links to the most useful and important pages you will need.

  

We meet regularly both as local branches and the whole constituency - just look at our events page which shows where you can join in. We also have a youth (14-26) section and women's forum. Please come and meet us.

 

Jargon Buster

As a new member you may find yourself hearing a lot of unfamiliar terminology used during meetings, on the website of in the news. In this 'Jargon Buster' we will explain some of the most commonly used terms in meetings or in the news, so you will be up to speed as quickly as possible. If there are any terms that we have missed or you just simply wanting clarifying, just leave them in the comments section of this page and we will add them.

CLP - Constituency of the Labour Party - we hold CLP meetings for everyone in our area.

NEC - National Executive Committee - this group decides at a national level.

LCF - Local Campaign Forum - This group organises campaigns for Derbyshire and authorises candidates.

The 100 Club - this is a mini lottery with 50% of the income being given out in prizes and 50% staying with the CLP to help with running costs.

East Midlands Regional Board - this group consists of elected members & trade union reps and coordinate on behalf of the East Midlands. The Derbyshire reps are Alison Martin and Kevin Hepworth.

East Midlands Regional Office - this is based in Nottingham and has Labour Party employees who support the CLPs and region.

We run a blog covering many subjects from local news to member specific issues. if you would like to contribute to our blog please email your entry to blog@derbyshiredaleslabour.org.uk with the subject line 'Blog Post Entry'.
